Un-neutered Rabbits & Pairs
We get to meet and spend time observing so many rabbits
here at the Pet Hotel! It is without a doubt rabbits kept as pets are much happier, calmer, healthier and have less
territorial behaviours when spayed or neutered,
and bonded with a compatible rabbit companion.
It is recommended this procedure is done at 4-6 months old,
older buns also benefit if they are spayed or neutered later in life.
We cannot accept un-neutered pairs of rabbits over
the age of 5-6 months old, even if the are the same sex,
due to the increased risk of them fighting.
We also cannot accept single un-neutered males during our
busy periods over the age of 6 months to avoid unsettling our
other guests with unwanted hormonal behaviour and scenting.
Unspayed females can be much more stressy with life and hormones,
and are at higher risk of getting uterine infections and cancers.
Rabbits are happiest when they are spayed/neutered,
have
access 24 hours a day to a safe and interesting space, the minimum recommended size is 10ft long x 6ft wide x 3ft high,
with platforms, tunnels, digging, foraging areas,
even bigger... if possible is better!
Life is always better with friends! Bonded pairs or groups of rabbits have a lot of sociable activities to do together, grooming,
grazing, foraging, plus they love cuddling up together!
Being a prey species they feel safety in numbers,
they provide comfort and constant companionship to eachother,
and should be kept bonded with a compatible spayed/neutered rabbit companion - Its never to late, every bunny needs a bunny friend!
